Literacy Trivia Challenge 2005
|
Cindy
Cross of the Surf City Kiwanis Club put on a wonderful
Trivia Challenge which benefited the Huntington Beach
Literacy Program. She put together a fast-moving, fun-filled
evening of questions, answers, wagering, even some singing.
Contestants ranged from City Officials to teachers and
churches, non-profit organizations and corporations.
There was a wonderful dinner (barbecued right out in the
parking lot) and lots of raffle and door prizes. Your team
of HB Soroptimists may not have come in first, but we didn’t
come in last and we did each win raffle prizes!!
Thanks to those who came to cheer us on and special thanks
to Donna Cross for restraining our Chihuahuas so that they
didn’t run away.
They took the stage
10 teams in all
Each one looked ready
To have a ball.
The emcee came on
Our Vanna walked out
We had to go first
We tried not to pout.
Maureen and Cindy
Were certainly bolder
To calmly accept
A dog on their shoulder.
Eight thousand dollars
Was raised that night
Donated for Literacy
To make the future bright.
The best news of all
For this trivia buff
We didn’t come in last
And that’s Good Enough!!
